From a recent field visit to India with Opportunity International

“I was recently privileged to take part in a field visit to the slums of India with Opportunity International. It was an overwhelming and ultimately inspiring trip. Micro-financing programmes give even the poorest members of society a chance to break the poverty cycle not through charity but through their own efforts and hard work. The success of women in particular in small businesses has allowed them to fund a better future for their children, and therefore for their country’s future economic welfare. Opportunity International was honoured at the 2008 UN International Year for Women for its inspirational work."
